And the True Purpose of Blog Platforms

Blogging, originally termed ‘Weblog’, started to rise in the late 90’s. Individuals started to share their thoughts, experiences, and information online. Since then it has become an essential tool in the fight to be seen on the internet.

Google discovered the value of regularly updated, relevant content. Blogs, with their frequent updates and diverse topics, naturally became favoured by search engines, leading to higher visibility and increased traffic. It wasn’t long before others began to capitalise on this.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) techniques and skills were intensely researched and deployed by anyone seeking to drive customers to their website. The art of word mastery became a sought after skill!

But there was a problem. The balance between looks and design didn’t work with a wordy website. It was off-putting to customers. On the one hand Google rated highly a site that gave the most information related to a search query. On the other hand, a website filled with words looked ugly.

For example, if you were selling T-shirts online there is only so much information you can provide for each product and each design. Customers would be put off by a 2000 word essay on each product page. All you want to see is a photo of the…
