Quick: Respond then Block!

Tracking down the “Deleted Users” and asking them why?

If you’ve been on Medium for some time you will eventually come across a “Deleted User” in your Notifications. Clicking it reveals nothing. I never understood what it was or why it was happening.

At first I took it at face value and thought…

“Someone’s responded then deleted their account. Hmmm”

After a while I saw more of these notifications popping up and became more curious. After a bit of digging I discovered how these were not deleted users at all. They were people who blocked you!

So why would anyone leave a response when you can’t reply?
Why would anyone leave a response you can’t even read?!
Did I even care? No but I was curious.

I’ve always been that person who goes along with spam callers. I pretend to take the bate of some new pyramid scheme and I’ve always replied to Uncle Ahmed’s lawyer about the $Gazillion he left me in his Will. Bless him.
