How to Succeed in Business
Practical Tips for Navigating Business with Savvy and Style
I am often asked this one question. While the subject is vast and greatly depends on the business to which you venture. The following is what I would focus on and how I would do it if I were to start again today.
Know Your Customer Like Your BFF
Think of your customer as your BFF (Best Friend Forever). What do they want? What makes them tick? Understanding your customers inside out is like having a secret weapon. Chat with them, send out surveys, stalk their social media (in a non-creepy way, of course). The better you know them, the better you can serve them.
But don’t chase customers who are not yours. What do I mean? Don’t chase the customers that don’t align with your values or fit the demographic of your business. Don’t waste time selling a convertible to someone who needs a truck! Know who your customers are and know them like your BFF.
Keep It Simple, Silly (KISS)
Ever heard of KISS? It stands for “Keep It Simple, Silly.”
The last word is usually substituted for something less polite but I’ll leave that to your own imagination
